How I Work

My priority is to create a safe and supportive space built on acceptance, active listening, and respect. This allows clients to explore the roots of their struggles and, most importantly, to find ways to overcome them. Together, we develop a unique therapeutic approach tailored to each individual's needs, goals, and preferred ways of working—whether that means understanding the underlying causes of their difficulties, managing anxiety, or healing from traumatic experiences.

Some clients prefer talk therapy, while others find non-verbal methods more helpful. These can include guided imagery, symbolic objects, hypnosis, or techniques designed to neutralise the emotional and physiological impact of trauma, such as TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises), the Flash Technique, or EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).

Although I share insights from scientific research, experiences of other clients, and practical coping strategies—especially breathing and relaxation techniques—the core of my work is to guide each client towards their own understanding of their situation. My goal is to help them develop their own tools and path to a more fulfilling life, drawing on their strengths, inner and external resources, and personal worldview or beliefs.

You can learn more about the different approaches I use here: MY APPROACHES.

First Session

The first session serves two main purposes. On one hand, it provides space for you to share what brings you to therapy and to discuss what you hope to achieve from our work together. We will also cover the practical aspects of therapy, such as frequency and fees. On the other hand, it is an opportunity for both of us to see if we are a good fit for further collaboration.

This session allows you to determine whether you feel comfortable with me—whether my approach, age, gender, and style of working suit you and whether you feel you can trust me and our process. At the same time, I assess whether I can effectively support you with your concerns. If I believe a different specialist would be better suited to your needs, I will provide a referral to a trusted colleague or specialised service.

How Long Does Therapy Last?

The duration of therapy can range from a single session to several years. It depends on various factors, including the complexity and depth of the issue, the person's ability to recognise and express their thoughts and emotions, and, most importantly, their level of motivation.

For example, there is a big difference between someone who says, "I am determined to work on this," and someone who says, "I was told to come to therapy, but I’m not really sure why." The more engaged and open a person is to the process, the more effective therapy tends to be.

How Often Are Sessions?

For individual therapy focused on change or healing, sessions are typically held once a week or once every two weeks. Less frequent sessions serve more of a supportive role and are usually scheduled towards the end of therapy when the main issue has been addressed.

Couples therapy is usually scheduled every two weeks to once a month, and the same applies to family therapy for two to three family members.
